Promotion of Local Innovation-Bhimal Tree

  • 18th Oct, 2022

Bhimal (Grewia optiva J. R. Drumm. ex Burret) is a small multipurpose tree from Nepal mainly used for fodder, wood, fiber, and fuel which is found abundantly in the forest of Sunilsmriti Rural Municipality, Rolpa. Beside wood and fodder, the local people of Rolpa use the branch of this tree to extract barks and prepare 'Namlo' (head strap which goes around the head and helps people carry weight on their back) and 'Damlo' (kind of leash to restrain the animal in the shed). This local innovation is also contributing in income generation of families as well. SAHAS Nepal is promoting local innovations of communities!
